Aerolíneas Argentinas is the flag carrier of Argentina.

Aerolíneas Argentinas is Argentina’s largest airlines and serves both domestic as well as international routes. The headquarters of the airlines are at Aeroparque Jorge Newbery in Buenos Aires. With a fleet of 55 aircraft, Aerolíneas Argentina covers 58 destinations and has 11,515 employees. As of 2013, the revenue of the airline stood at USD 2.037 billion and the net income was USD 251 million.

Aerolíneas Argentinas, along with its subsidiaries, operates from two hubs – Aeroparque Jorge Newbery and Ministro Pistarini International Airport. Aeroparque Jorge Newbery serves domestic and regional flights, while the international flights are concentrated at the Ministro Pistarini International Airport. Some of the international destinations that the airline covers are the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Spain, South Africa, New Zealand, Mexico, France, Brazil, and Australia.

The history of the airlines dates back to the mid-20th century. Aerolíneas Argentinas came into existence in 1949 with the consolidation of four companies by the President of Argentina Juan Perón into a state-owned company. The airline began operations on December 7, 1950.

In 1990, Aerolíneas Argentinas was privatized, and a consortium led by Iberia Air acquired approximately 85% stake in the company. Following a period of financial troubles, which nearly drove the airline to bankruptcy, Aerolíneas Argentinas was acquired by Grupo Marsans. In 2008, the government of Argentina regained control of the airlines. Today, Aerolíneas Argentinas is a state-owned airline.
