London, capital of the United Kingdom, is not just famous across the world for its majestic monuments and sizzling nightlife but is also one of the most economically advanced cities in the world. It is home to the London Stock Exchange, which is Europe’s leading and most prestigious stock exchange. Belgium, which is a constitutional monarchy, is among the most prominent and prosperous nations of Europe. It has a robust economy and a sound GDP per capita, which according to 2017 estimate, was approximately $46,300. The country is appreciated for its safe and peaceful environment, high standards of living, a strong healthcare and educational structure, sound infrastructure, and a highly productive labor force. By Nominal GDP, Belgium is the 23rd largest economy in the world and by purchasing power parity is the 38th largest.
International standing
Belgium is a small nation, yet it exerts considerable influence in international affairs. It is among the founding members of the European Union, which is one of the most influential and economically powerful unions in the world. Other than that, the country is also a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, World Trade Organization, Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, and others. Brussels, the capital of Belgium, is a significant hub of international politics and many reputed organizations have their headquarters here. These include the headquarters of NATO, the European Parliament, European Commission, etc.
At a global level, England is represented as a part of the United Kingdom. The UK is a member of the United Nations Security Council, Interpol, NATO, WTO, Commonwealth of Nations, OECD, G7, G20, etc. Currently, the United Kingdom is a part of the European Union; however, its exit, which the world knows as ‘Brexit’, is being negotiated.
