The upcoming US presidential election is an eye-catching event for the entire world. America has an electrifying discourse going on centering around the presidential elections. Who will be the next President? Will Trump win the election again to remain President for another 4-year term? These are the million-dollar questions everyone is having.
With economic issues and coronavirus plaguing the Trump administration, the current period before the elections is a testing time for President Donald Trump.
But Trump’s opponents, Biden and Sanders, have left no stone unturned to unseat Trump for the second term. The spread of deadly COVID-19 in the United States and the rising death toll is a significant setback for the Trump administration. It is hitting the US economy hard. Hence, it is a testing time for Trump to show his patience and political caliber.
Here are the three front runners of the presidential election and what they are standing for in the forthcoming Presidential polls in the United States.
Donald J. Trump, the 73-year-old is serving as the 45th President of the United States. He was a real estate player and a television star before venturing into politics. Trump, as a Republican, won from six states: Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Trump gained popularity in his presidential run for the first term for his Make America Great Again campaign. His tax cut policy in 2017 decreased rates for individuals and businesses, which helped in the rise of the stock market. He has also batted over intense labor.
Taking cue that his opponents have attacked him on the education front, he has promised to fix the issue of student loan debt. The Trump administration is pushing a scheme called “Education Freedom Scholarships”, which means students will have the right to attend private or public schools outside their districts. On gun shooting, he had ordered to ban bomb stock after the Las Vegas shooting. On healthcare in 2018, Trump unveiled the “American Patients First” Plan as he was against the high price of medicines. On immigration policy, Trump promised to build a wall on the US-Mexico border to stop illegal immigrants and expel such types of migrants living in the United States illegally.
Joseph R. Biden Jr, the 77-year old Democratic Party candidate, has served as the 47th Vice President of the United States from 2009 to 2017 during the period of President Barack Obama. He served effectively as a senator from Delaware from 1973 to 2009 and fought the presidential elections twice in 1988 and 2008.
He has promised to improve the situation of the middle class, and assured to construct an economy that “rewards work, not just wealth.” Biden has pledged to raise funds for schools in low-income regions. In his healthcare planning, he would like to expand Obamacare’s subsidies. He is also thinking of banning assault weapons. He stressed to provide citizenship to undocumented immigrants who came to the US as a child.
Bernie Sanders, the 78-year-old presidential candidate, served as a senator from Vermont since 2007. He is closely related to the Democratic Party. He stressed that every American has the right to get a decent job and get a handsome wage. He further emphasized that the people of the United States should have a quality health facility, the right to complete proper education, housing facility, a clean environment, and a secure retirement life as well.
He favors banning assault weapons and said he would seek to do the same for high-capacity magazines. He is against the deportation of undocumented immigrants who landed in the US as children.
