Welcome to Delaware – the first state of the United States of America. Despite being the second smallest in size among the 50 states, Delaware gained importance when it became the first to ratify the US constitution on December 7th, 1787. Located in the Mid-Atlantic region, this tiny peninsula state juts out into the Atlantic Ocean and boasts of some spectacular beaches. If you think that a state which is just about 96 miles long and approximately 35 miles at its widest, may not have much to offer, it is time you take a second look at Delaware. The capital city of Delaware, Dover, and is a city known both for its historic attractions and for its social life. Dover hosts large-scale events such as NASCAR races (Dover International Speedway) and showcases sites of great cultural and historic importance. (First State Heritage Park) The Air Mobility Command Museum, the Johnson Victrola Museum, the Biggs Museum of American Art, and the Delaware State Police Museum and Education Center are popular museums of Dover.

Wilmington is the largest city in the state. The city is green and serene and full of life. The Fort Christina monument, Brandywine zoo, Rothschild Patent Model Collection Museum, Museum of Business History and Technology, and Hagley Museum are the best-known attractions of the city. Bethany Beach – Bethany Beach in Delaware is relatively quieter and less crowded than the other beaches of Delaware but it is this calm seclusion that makes it more attractive particularly to couples. The boardwalk is lined by restaurants and shops and the views are breathtaking.

Lewes Beach – Another quiet but shallow beach which is loved by families and children is the Lewes Beach. This is a calm beach with a quaint boardwalk which also allows tourists to swim in the warm waters.

Despite being small in size, Delaware is rich in natural beauty and caters to adventure enthusiasts. The state has 17 state parks that offer some breathtaking views and wonderful opportunities for hikers. The Fort Delaware State Park, the Trap Pond State Park, Lums Pond State Park, and Cape Henlopen State Park are among the oldest in the state. A visit to the First State Heritage State Park is an educational experience. The Auburn Heights Preserve features the mansion and home of the Marshall family. The Marshall Steam Museum located here has the largest collection of steam-powered cars in the world.
