What is the Logistics Performance Index?

5/5 - (3 votes)

The Logistics Performance Index is a benchmarking tool enabling countries to pinpoint the challenges they face, as well as the opportunities that exist in their performance on trade logistics. This also helps them in improving their performance. The dimensions considered for the same are the efficiency of customs clearance process, quality of trade and transport-related infrastructure, ease of arranging competitively priced shipments, quality of logistics services, ability to track and trace consignments, and the frequency with which shipments reach the consignee within the scheduled time.

The index ranges from 1 to 5. The higher the score, the better the performance. As per the 2016 survey, Germany occupies the top spot with a score of 4.23

Here is a tabular representation of the countries to sum up the world ranking of the LPI.
