Zimbabwe Media had its first hand as the Newspaper named as the Mashonaland and Zambesian Times in June 1891. It was a hand written paper, which was said to be quite bold yet true. By October 20, 1892, The Rhodesia Herald came in the place of Mashonaland and Zambesian Times as the country’s major daily newspaper. After being renamed as The Herald and along with the changes with time, it still stands today as the country’s oldest and biggest daily newspaper. The Argues who started the Herald, also opted for having a second newspaper named as the Bulawayo Chronicle in Bulawayo, by October 12, 1894.

Zimbabwe Radio has four popular channels. The channels cover music as well as news. They are a source of information as well as entertainment. Radio 4 is said to be the most innovative channel among all the Radio channels in Zimbabwe. By 1997 Zimbabwe TV had about 16 channels, which became quite popular in Zimbabwe.

Media of Zimbabwe is growing fast and the importance in increasing day by day, as they are the main source of Zimbabwe News. However the Government takes care of six newspapers in Zimbabwe, Daily News being the most influential one. Through Zimbabwe Media, the culture reaches the people. It also influences the country’s politics, economics and the society.
