Nuclear power capacity refers to the total amount of electricity that can be produced by a country’s nuclear power plants. While nuclear power is a source of low-carbon energy, it also presents unique challenges related to safety, waste disposal, and non-proliferation. As such, many countries are pursuing alternative forms of renewable energy to meet their energy needs while also mitigating climate change. Nuclear Power is one of the largest resources of energy very useful in the generation of nuclear electricity. As shown in the map, the United States has the highest nuclear capacity of 101,240 MW followed by France with 63,130 MW. The Top Ten Countries with highest Nuclear Capacity Map also shows the location of the other countries that possess large amount of nuclear power. Seeing the rapid growth of countries possessing high nuclear capacities, China and India are also planning to increase their nuclear power.
