There are many international agencies and organizations that co-ordinate refugee protection, such as the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), and the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants. Refugees were designated as legal groups post the Second World War that saw large number of people fleeing fleeing Eastern Europe. The world map with top ten countries by refugee population shows the countries that have the maximum refugee population.
