Brazil nuts are mainly harvested from wild trees in the Amazon rainforest, with Brazil being the largest producer and exporter of these nuts. Here are the top five Brazil nut producing countries:
  • Brazil – As the name suggests, Brazil is the largest producer and exporter of Brazil nuts. In 2021, Brazil produced approximately 40,000 metric tons of Brazil nuts, which accounted for over 90% of the world’s total production.
  • Bolivia – Bolivia is the second-largest producer of Brazil nuts. In 2021, the country produced approximately 3,500 metric tons of Brazil nuts.
  • Peru – Peru is the third-largest producer of Brazil nuts. In 2021, the country produced approximately 1,000 metric tons of Brazil nuts.
  • Colombia – Colombia is the fourth-largest producer of Brazil nuts. In 2021, the country produced approximately 200 metric tons of Brazil nuts.
  • Venezuela – Venezuela is the fifth-largest producer of Brazil nuts. In 2021, the country produced approximately 150 metric tons of Brazil nuts.

It is worth noting that Brazil nuts are not widely cultivated, and production is mostly limited to the Amazon rainforest region. Therefore, Brazil remains the dominant producer of these nuts.
