Vietnam Population



Vietnam is a country in Southeast Asia. Presently the Vietnam Population is estimated to be around 98 million people. The population growth rate of Vietnam is 1.004%. The population is comprised of many ethnic groups such as Kinh (Viet) 86.2%, Nun 1.1%, Thai 1.7%, Muong 1.5%, Hoa 1.1%, Khome 1.4%, Hmong 1%, Tay 1.9% others 4.1%.

Vietnam’s Population can be divided into three age groups, such as 0-14 years: 26.3%, 15-64 years: 67.9%, and 65 years and above 5.8%. The total median age of the country is 26.4 years. It is 25.3 years for males and 27.6 years for females. The birth rate is 16.63 births/1,000 population and the death rate is 6.19 deaths/1,000 population.

Population of Vietnam follow various religions such as Cao Dai 1.1%, Hoa Hao 1.5%, Buddhist 9.3%, Protestant 0.5%, Catholic 6.7%, Muslim 0.1% and none 80.8%. The people speak primarily Vietnamese, the official language. But English is becoming increasingly popular. French, Khmer, and Chinese are also in use. 90.3% of the population in Vietnam is literate. 93.9% of males and 86.9% of females over 15 years old can read and write.
