Farg’ona Viloyati



Farg’ona Viloyati or the Fergana province in Uzbekistan is located in the southern part of the Fergana valley. With a land area of approximately 6,800 sq km it shares its borders with the Namangan and Adijan provinces in Uzbekistan.

The majority of the population in this province lives in rural areas. The climate of Farg’ona Viloyati is continental.

Farg’ona Viloyati of Uzbekistan is divided into fifteen administrative districts. Fergana is the capital of this province. The major cities are Besharik, Khamza, Kokand, Kuva, Kuvasay, Margilan and Rishdan. Kokand is the main communication center in this city. It is located in the cross roads of important trade routes. The major tourist attractions in this city are the Palace of Khudayar Khan, Jummi Mosque, Amin Beg Madrassah, Dakhma-I-Shokhon and the Khamza Museum. Margilan is an important city and an important halting place of the famous ‘Silk Route’. Toron Mosque in Margilan is one of the major tourist attractions of the region.

Agriculture is one of the important sources of livelihood for the inhabitants of this province. Sericulture horticulture is widely practiced here. Meat and milk is produced from livestock breeding.

Petroleum and ceramic clays are the main natural resources found in this province. The prime industries in this area are oil refining, fertilizer and chemical industries. Margilan is known to be the center of silk weaving industry. Traditional Uzbek pottery is also produced here.

The Farg’ona Viloyati province of Uzbekistan is one of the most enchanting provinces in Uzbekistan and an important center of tourist attraction.
