US Route 22
A prominent route of the US Highway System, Route 22 is a west-east route, covering a length of 647.45 miles, from Cincinnati, Ohio all the way to Newark, New Jersey. US Route 22 goes through four states; Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. Some of the prominent cities along the route include; Cincinnati, OH, Lancaster, Pittsburgh, PA, Newark, NJ, just to name a few.
As Route 22 passes through Pennsylvania, is known as the William Penn Highway. In Southwest Ohio, it’s known by the names of 3C Highway and Montgomery Road, and overlaps with State Route 3. US Route 22 is one of the original United States highways, dating back to 1926. A part of the route in Pennsylvania, that runs between the borough of New Alexandria, at US Route 119, and Harrisburg, the capital of Pennsylvania, at Interstate 81, has been designated as ‘Corridor M,’ of the Appalachian Development Highway System. Some of the major junctions along US Route 22 are; I-70, I-77, I-79, I-99, and I-81.
