Interstate 68 or I-68 is a highway in the United States. It covers areas like Morgantown, West Virginia in I-79 and meets Hancock at I-70. At the time of its construction, the route was designated as the Highway 48. After its 4 lane was completed in 1989, US 48 was demobilized for the second time and was renamed as I-68, which also has the name of Corridor E of the Appalachian Development Highway System. It also has the name of National Freeway in Maryland
Extent of I-68 Highway
The extension of I-68 west is from Morgantown to Wheeling through Moundsville, West Virginia. This was discussed in 2000 September. The west Virginia 2 I-68 authority was designed and then created by the West Virginia State Legislature in the year 1997 which came with two mandates. After that, the developments that took place in the extension of I-68 was on 9 September, 2003. In 1986, a 73-mile route between Moundsville and Morgantown was included in the plan. The roadway then was re-classified as a part of the State Principal Arterial System, which included Monongalia county 19/24, U.S. 19, West virginia 7 and U.S. 250.States and Cities Along I-68 Highway
