There are a number of major cities in Uruguay that are spread across the place. Some of the cities of Uruguay are Montevideo, Paysandu, Las Piedras, Tacuarembo, Maldonado, Rivera and so on.

More about the cities in Uruguay Montevideo has earned the reputation of being the largest city of Uruguay. It is also the chief port of Uruguay. It has one of the important harbors of USA. The place abounds in beaches like Punta Gorda, Pocitos, Playa Verde, Buceo and so on. Other sightseeing places include monuments and museums.




Paysandu has the reputation of being the third largest city of Uruguay. Priest Policarpo Sandu and 12 families of Christianized Indians are known to have founded this Uruguayan city. It has breweries of Uruguay along with textile factories and tanneries. Semana de la Cerveza or Week of the Beer festival is celebrated with great fun and fervor.


Las Piedras city falls under the Canelones Department of Uruguay. This city of Uruguay is also known to be the part of the Greater Montevideo agglomeration.

Tacuarembo city falls under the department of Tacuarembo.

Maldonado city has got numerous sightseeing destinations like San Fernando de Maldonado Cathedral, Torre del Vigia, Cuartel de Dragones, El Puente de la Barra.


Rivera- This city shares its boundary with Brazil. The former President of Uruguay Aparicio Mendez was born here.
