Tabora City Guide



Tabora is one of the most important transit points in Tanzania. The small and quiet city lies in the western part of Tanzania. The tranquil yet beautiful city in Tanzania was set up by some Arab tradesmen, who used the place as a center for slave trade. Tabora is one of the largest areas of Tanzania in context to geographical regions. Tabora is also the capital of Tabora Region in Tanzania supporting a meager population.

The city of Tabora acts as a connection between Lake Tanganyika in the west and Mwanza on Lake Victoria in the north. The central railway line passes through Tabora and the place acts as a stopover for many tourists traveling to places like Kigoma and Mwanza. Tabora acted as a leading trading area of Tanzania, which specialized in salve trade and ivory trade.

Tabora is also well renowned for fresh honey. The honey that is produced in the nearby towns of Tabora is sold in the open market in the city. It is collected in large containers and jerry cans and also exported to other countries.

There is one street in Tabora that connects all the other places in the small city. Transport system in the small Tanzanian city is not very well developed. There is one road that connects Tabora to the capital city of Tanzania, Dodoma. There is no direct route to Kigoma from Tabora.
