The major cities in Tajikistan are listed below :

• Dushanbe : It is the capital of Tajikistan and is situated in the southern region of the country at Hissar valley. The main place to visit in one of the prominent cities of Tajikistan is Prospekt Rudaki. At Dushanbe, you must visit Sadriddin Aini Square, Dousti(Friendship) Square, Putovsky Square, Guzgarf Waterfall, Lake Komsomol Park, Moscow’s 8th Centennial Square, Firdausi Republican Library.
• Hissar : It is counted among the highly populated cities in Tajikistan. Situated in the center of Hissar valley in the central western part of Tajikistan, it offers Caravanserai, Sangin Mosque, Mausoleum of Makhdumi Azam, Hissar fortress for sightseeing.
• Penjikent : It is also known as city of five villages and is situated at the valley of Zeravshan river in the region of Khujand at Tajikistan. Counted amongst the popular cities at Tajikistan, it offers you Rudaki History and Local Lore Museum where you can witness history from your own eyes. Other places of interest at Penjikent are Sarazm Settlement, Muhammad Bashoro Mausoleum, Ancient Settlement, Rudaki Mausoleum and Khazrati-Bobo Architectural Complex.
• Khujand : It is the second largest city of Tajikistan and is also the capital of the northern region of the country. The main sightseeing venues at Khujand are mausoleum and mosque of Sheikh Muslekheddin which is a very sacred place, Kairakum lake with exquisite scenery around, Ak-Su area for mountaineering.
• Ura Tube : Also known as Istaravshan, it has been one of the oldest center of crafts and trade in Central Asia. Do check out the Kok-Gumbaz and Khazrati-Shokh Mausoleum.
