The LPGA or the Ladies Professional Golfers Association is based at Daytona Beach, Florida. It is an organization of professional female golf players from across the world. This body runs the LPGA Tour , which takes place from February to November every year. All the top layers in the world play on this tour. In 2006, the total prize money on the tour crossed the $50 million-mark for the first time.
The LPGA was founded in 1950 by 13 women, which included the legendary Babe Didrikson Zaharis. It is the oldest women’s sports organization that is still running in the US. The LPGA also teaches golf professionals as well as serves as a club for them. Majority of the tournaments on this tour are held in the US while Japan, Canada, France, South Koreaand Mexicohost one each. Currently there are 35 tournaments taking place on the LPGA Tour .
