About the venue

The Rio de Janeiro Stadium is among the largest soccer stadiums in the world and was built for the 1950 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The ground once cherished the tag of being the biggest stadium in the world with a full capacity of 199,854 attendees, but the capacity has now been reduced to 78,838 for incorporating more facilities for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. However, it still remains the largest stadium of Brazil. The sports ground is under refurbishment with some part being revamped to give it an ultra modern look.

How to reach the Maracana Stadium ?

The government bodies are not only revamping the stadium but they are also making transportation a lot easier than before. The international airport, Rio de Janeiro is easily accessible from any part of the world and once you have arrived in the city, you can take the metro route to reach the Maracana stadium from the airport. The metro will leave you near the venue from where it is at a stone’s throw and you can get there by walking. While travelling at night, it is safe to hire a taxi from the Rio airport.
