The 2016 UEFA European Championship, the 15th edition of the UEFA European Championship, will be held in France from June 10 to July 10, 2016. France will be hosting the tournament for the third time. The 2016 UEFA European Championship will witness the participation of 24 teams. The matches would be played in ten stadia in ten cities across the country. The cities where the matched will be played include Paris, Lyon, Nice, Lens, Bordeaux, Lille, Marseille, Saint-Denis, Saint-Étienne, and Toulouse.
While initially 12 stadiums were proposed by France, for serving as the match venues, later the French Football Federation selected nine stadiums that would actually be used for organizing the football tournament. Next, in June 2011, the count of host venues was increased to 11 because the tournament was meant to be as per the new format that features 24 teams instead of 16. After Nancy announced its exist as the host venue, quoting stadium’s renovation fall as the reason, a total of ten cities were finalized for holding the football tournament. On 25 January, 2013, the final list of ten venues for Euro Cup 2016 was announced by the UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) Executive Committee.
