Commonwealth Games 2014 Closing Ceremony



The Closing Ceremony of the 2014 Commonwealth Games will be held at the Hampden Park, Glasgow on 3 August 2014. After hosting what promises to be an exceptional multi-sport extravaganza, the organizers will definitely try and ensure that the final spectacle remains cherished forever.

As is customary, all the athletes from the 70 participating countries will march into the arena together. This tradition which originated at the 1956 Olympic Games, beautifully portrays sportsman spirit and the connections forged during the event.

Also, the President of the Organizing Committee shall give a speech about the highlights and achievements of the 2014 edition. They will talk about how far Glasgow was successful in hosting this grand event and what they can further achieve in the near future.

From what is being heard, the ceremony will include various types of traditional dance forms, and musical performances. Much like the Opening Ceremony, various professional artists have been roped in for the same.

Another routine involves the mascot being bid farewell, and ‘Clyde’, the face of the Games can expect the same, come 3 August 2014. The final step will be the handover ceremony of the Commonwealth Games flag. In this particular segment, the host country (Glasgow) will announce, “In a few moments, the ceremonial flag will be entrusted to your care so that in due time you deliver it to Queensland (hosts of the next edition).” This will be subsequently followed by an acceptance by the official representative of the 2018 Commonwealth Games, who shall pronounce, “This duty, I willingly undertake to fulfill.”
