Krusevac



Krusevac has a rich historical background. Besides the Serbia city of Krusevac has various tourist sites. Among the Serbia cities, Krusevac has been named several times by the colonial rulers. Cities in Serbia have different unique stories to unfold to the world.

The rich history of Krusevac waits to be unfolded. The city of Krusevac was first established by prince Lazar in the year 1374. Krusevac became the capital of his kingdom. The defeat of the Prince proved fatal for the city of Krusevac. Majority of the population took shelter in Hungary. Cities in Serbia were subjected to foreign aggression and named accordingly. Likewise Krusevac was also named as Alidza Hisar when it was under the possession of the Turks from 1455 to 1806. Then during the first world war Krusevac was a colony of Austria in 1941.

The Serbia cities are an abode of architectural designs.The architectures are a fusion of the Turkish art and 19th century art. Besides the city also towers various monuments and churches, which are symbols of architectural excellence. The various attractions are:

  • Monument of Serbia heroes: The monument is made of bronze material and is 6 meters tall. This particular monument marks the beginning of the twentieth century as well as the symbol of Krusevac. The monument has earned a gold medal in the World Exhibition held in 1900 in Paris.
  • Lazar’s City: The city built by Lazar still stands straight in spite of the historical upheavals. The medieval city measured 300* 200 meters and the walls are two meters wide. The city has the monument of King Lazar facing Eastwards.
  • The Church of Lazarica: This church was constructed in the year 1380. it was reconstructed in the 19th century. The church is decorated with marvelous sculptures and decorations.

Visit to Serbia is incomplete without visiting Krusevac.
