Serbia Administrative Divisions



The Republic of Serbia is a country located at the junction of Central and Southeast Europe, covering the southern part of the Pannonian Plain and the central part of the Balkans.

Serbia is a landlocked country and shares its border with Hungary to the north; Romania and Bulgaria to the east; Macedonia to the south; and Croatia, Bosnia, and Montenegro to the west; also, it borders Albania through the disputed region of Kosovo. The capital of Serbia, Belgrade, is among the largest cities in East-Central Europe.

Serbia is divided into municipalities, cities and autonomous provinces. The municipalities and cities are combined to form districts. There are 29 districts, 150 municipalities and 24 cities.

Autonomous Provinces of Serbia

Serbia has two autonomous provinces: Vojvodina (northern Serbia with 39 municipalities and 6 cities) and Kosovo and Metohija (southern Serbia with 28 municipalities and 1 city).
