Tabuk Map

The city of Tabuk holds religious significance for Muslims around the world, since it is the place, where the Battle of Tabuk had taken place during the time of Muhammad. Today,  this same city has acquired administrative significance in Tabuk province of Saudi Arabia and has transformed into the capital city of the province. Tabuk has remained a capital city since times immemorial. As long back as 500 B.C., Tabuk was the capital city of a prosperous province called Al Ayaneyan. Hence, the city abounds in numerous historical structures, which reflect the progression of Islam over the decades. Besides the monuments and mosques, the historic structure that draws the highest public attraction is a railway station that had been built during the Ottoman period.

The location of the city enables it to experience a Mediterranean type of climate where summers are not very hot and winters can be described to be mild. Fogs and frosts are quite common in the area during the winters, and these sometimes lead to freezing of water bodies. Tabuk also houses one of the most significant archaeological sites in the world called Al Bidaa. Tabuk experiences heavy rainfall mostly during the winter months and this often leads to the frequent mists and frosts in the city.
