Qatar tourism is simply not a desert safari. Tourism in Qatar also signifies relaxing at the many beaches encircling the Arab coastline. The sports enthusiast may enjoy individual sports like golf. For the indoor sports buff, choices abound in the country of Qatar. The country have sophisticated indoor facilities for bowling alleys, snooker tables, billiards, squash and tennis. Notable historical attractions include the Marroub Fort, Al-Ghuwair Castle, Al-Zubarah, Al-Thughb Fort, Barzan Tower, Al-Jassasiya, Al-Wajbah Fort, Al-Rakiyat Fort and Umm Salal Mohammed Fort. The islands around the Qatari mainland also make notable visiting places in the region. Notable islands include the Ishat Island, Haloul Island, Alia Island, Al-Saflia Island and Shra’o Island. The capital city of Doha exemplifies the modern face of Qatar to the world.
