Located in the East of Poland, Miedzyrzec Podlaski is a city in Biala Podlaska County, Lubin Voivodeship. With a population of about 17,102, the city of Miedzyrzec Podlaski is located on the Krzna river.
The city of Miedzyrzec Podlaski has a long history and a past that became its identity forever. The birth ofMiedzyrzec Podlaski can be traced back to the 16th Century and it had always been an important Jewish Community in Central Poland. During the Holocaust of the Second World War, it was converted into a Jewish Ghetto by the Nazis.
The Miedzyrzec Podlaski Ghetto was well known as a home to a major section of the Jewish community. The city of Miedzyrzec Podlaski had its own economic production and the Jews in the Miedzyrzec Podlaski Ghetto produced brushes and furs. However, the city of Miedzyrzec Podlaski was destroyed by the German Luftwaffe in 1939 but after several days, it was the Soviets who entered Miedzyrzec Podlaski, rather than the Germans. Finally, by the end of 1939, the Germans forced the Jews to leave the center of Miedzyrzec Podlaski. The Jews, therefore, had to leave Miedzyrzec Podlaski and move to a poorer part of the city.
The city of Miedzyrzec Podlaski in Poland, today is a popular tourist attraction. Besides its historical value, the city of Miedzyrzec Podlaski is a piece of art from the 15th Century with a number of buildings from the past. The local Hospital, Saint Nicholas Church and the train station, etc are all major tourist attractions.
