Though the elite and upper middle class and a significant part of the middle class Pakistanis are educated, a large part population has a long way to go. As population below the poverty level is too high, so is the level of uneducated Pakistanis. Pakistan has about a total of 35% of the population educated. When calculated in terms of sex, 47% of the males are educated followed by 21% of the women. Much has been done to raise the level of education among the girl child.

The Education Ministry of Pakistan is doing much lately to alleviate the plight of education in the country. Education standard of Pakistan is divided into the preschool education, primary education,Secondary education and post secondary education. The education boards in Pakistan vary from place to place. It is only in the level of higher studies, that country level boards are recognized.
