At present only two airlines serve the island namely the Norfolk Air and Air New Zealand. Several steps are being commissioned to improve the flying conditions.
The landing system of the airport was formed by Honeywall and Pelorus Navigation Systems to ensure better landing grounds in poor weather conditions. The airport is approved by the US Federal Aviation Administration and Civil Aviation Safety Authority. The Norfolk Island Airport also has the international certificate from USA to use the local public area augmentation system. The airport will not only allow better landing facilities but will also avoid traffic congestion.
