Latium



Italy Latium stretches from the western Apennines to the Tyrrhenian Sea. The lakes of Vico,Bolsena,Bracciano,Nemi and Albano flow through the region of Latium in Italy. These lakes had their origins in the craters of the four extinct volcanoes.

Latium Italy is held responsible for the birth of Roman civilization. This region was once inhabited by the original Latin people. The word ‘Latium’ itself is a Latin term which has been adopted by modern English as well. Due to frequent wars and political tussles, Roman language gradually gained status as the prime medium of verbal and written communication.

Formerly people of Latium Italy mostly were non-European speaking. A series of wars took place from 4 th century B.C. to 1 st century B.C. where the original citizens of Latium inflicted defeats in the hands of Rome. Post 90 B.C. Social War, citizenship to all the people in the region of Latium was granted by Rome. Henceforth, Latium became an alliance of Rome.

The region of Latium Italy is rich for its art, architecture, culture, religion, history and archeology. The nostalgic Renaissance buildings of the Palazzo dei Priori take you to an ancient period. History dating back to Etruscan period can be witnessed at every corner of the region of Latium in Italy. One more site worth visiting is Quartiere San Pellegrino.

Bolsena lake in the region of Latium Italy offers the visitors a nice bath. Anyone with an interest in fishing can approach Bolsena lake as well. You may take a boat trip that takes you to the Isola Bisentina, which dwells Etruscan tombs, five chapels with fresco paintings.
