Hurricane Michael formed in the Caribbean Sea and quickly moved towards the Florida Panhandle. It made landfall near Mexico Beach, Florida, on October 10, 2018, with sustained winds of 155 mph (250 km/h). From there, the storm moved northeast across Georgia and the Carolinas. The storm eventually dissipated over the Atlantic Ocean on October 16, 2018, with remnants of the storm affecting parts of Europe.

Category of Hurricane Michael

Hurricane Michael was classified as a Category 5 hurricane at its peak intensity, with maximum sustained winds of 160 mph (260 km/h) and a minimum central pressure of 919 mb. However, by the time it made landfall near Mexico Beach, Florida, it had weakened slightly to a Category 4 hurricane with sustained winds of 155 mph (250 km/h).

Damage Caused By Hurricane

Hurricane Michael was one of the most destructive storms to hit the United States, causing widespread damage and destruction in the Florida Panhandle and beyond. The storm caused an estimated $25 billion in damages, with many homes and businesses destroyed or severely damaged. Some of the areas that were hit hardest by the storm include Mexico Beach, Panama City, and nearby communities, where the storm’s powerful winds and storm surge caused significant damage to buildings, homes, and infrastructure.

The storm was responsible for at least 59 deaths and left hundreds of thousands of people without power in the affected areas. Despite the devastation caused by the storm, communities in the affected regions have been working tirelessly to recover and rebuild in the years since.
