Argo Wins At The Oscars 2013 (Best Picture)

Argo, directed by Ben Affleck, received 7 nominations at the 85th Academy Awards. It won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing as well as the coveted Best Picture prize.

Inspired by a true story, Argo sees CIA agent Tony Mendez (also Ben Affleck) create a fake Hollywood film production in order to rescue six American diplomats who have sought refuge at the home of the Canadian ambassador after militants seize control of the U.S. embassy in Tehran during the height of the Iranian Revolution. Before the group are identified and taken hostage, Mendez, posing as a Canadian film producer, enters Tehran under the pretext of scouting locations for an upcoming science fiction film and smuggles the diplomats out of Tehran as his film crew.
