Parnu County



Parnu, also called Parnumaa is one of the fifteen counties in Estonia. Located in the south-western part of Estonia, Parnu is in close proximity to the Gulf of Riga. There are other Estonian counties that form land borders with the county of Parnu, Estonia. There are Jarva and Viljandi counties to the east of Parnu, while Latvia lies to the south of the county. County Laane and Rapla lie to the north of Parnumaa. If land area is taken into consideration, Parnu in Estonia is the largest county in the country.

One of the oldest human civilizations of Estonia is found in Parnu. Like many of the counties in Estonia, Parnu is also divided into several municipalities. These are again divided into rural and urban municipalities. Governor is the head of the county government in Parnu and serves for a term of five years.

Parnu is primarily a resort town and beaches are the major attractions. The Estonian summer can be best spent at Parnu. Tourism is an important industry in the county. Several tourists from all over the world come to this beautiful county to spend their holidays. Local people are also found relaxing on the various beaches in the county. There are good places for shopping in the county too. Parnu, Estonia is a well maintained county with many parks and squares. A trip to this Estonian county is bound to be a pleasurable one.
