Hillary Clinton Background



Hillary Clinton was born Hillary Diane Rodham to High Rodham and Dorothy Emma Howell Rodham. She was born on October 26, 1947, in Chicago. After spending the first few years in Chicago, Hillary shifted to Park Ridge in Illinois, which is a suburb and is located around 15 miles from downtown Chicago.

Her father Hugh Rodham was a successful businessman. A World War II veteran, Hugh was a prosperous fabric store owner. Her mother Dorothy Emma Howell Rodham was a homemaker and of Welsh, English, Scottish, French, and distant Dutch ancestry.

Hillary Clinton is the eldest child in the family. She has two younger brothers – Hugh Jr. who was born in 1950 and Anthony who was born in 1954.

During her early years, Hillary Clinton was a supporter of the Republican Party. In 1964, she campaigned for Barry Goldwater, who was the Republican presidential nominee. However, in 1968 she switched sides and became a Democrat.
