The Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump is of half Scottish and half German descent. He was born to Fred Trump and Mary Trump on June 16, 1946. Fred Trump’s father, who had emigrated from Germany to the United States at the age of 16, had become rich by opening a number of restaurants and hotels during the Alaska Gold Rush period. Upon his death, his son Fred used the money to start his own business and established the Elizabeth Trump & Son, now known as the Trump Organization, at the age of 22. The company, which constructed low income apartments and row houses in New York City’s boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens, did exceedingly well enabling Fred Trump to carve a niche in the real estate sector of the city. He passed away in 1999 and his net worth was between $250 to $300 million.
Donald Trump’s mother, Mary Trump was born in Tong, which is a small village located in Scotland. At the age of 17, she emigrated to the United States and initially found work as a maid in New York City. She married Fred in 1936 and established her home in Queens, a New York City borough. In 1942, Mary became a citizen of the United States. She passed away in 2000.
