With the victory of Barack Hussein Obama in the US Presidential Elections, a new dawn of change has ushered on America. It took more than two centuries for this nation to chose a black as its President. An historic event preceded by more than twenty months of rigorous campaigning, culminated in a well deserved victory for the Democrats. Barack Obama, the first African- American to become the President of USA, defeated his rival, John McCain with an unexpected margin of votes. Three hundred forty nine electoral votes went to Barak Obama while the Republican candidate earned the trust of one hundred sixty three members of the Electoral College. With Barack Obama,Democrats registered victory in Ohio and Pennysylvania – states considered to be Pro-Republican. Another Republican heartland – Virginia – also voted in favor of the charismatic Democrat leader. Obama will be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States on January 20, 2009.
