Geographical Location of El Salvador
El Salvador is located in the Pacific Coast of Central America. El Salvador is the known to be the smallest Central American Country. To the west of El Salvador lies Guatemala and Honduras is in the northern part of it. The total area of this country is estimated to be 21,040 square kilometer, which is almost equal to Massachusetts. Another important factor about El Salvador Geography is that it is the only Central American country without a coastline.
Topography of El Salvador
Topography is another important aspect of El Salvador Geography. Most of the land of El Salvador is covered with mountains. There are two mountain ranges in El Salvador, which runs parallel to each other from east to west of the country. There is also central plateau in between the mountain ranges. The left over portion of the landscape of El Salvador is covered with plains, which are known as Pacific Lowlands.
Climate of El Salvador
El Salvador Geography also affects its climate. This country experiences a tropical type of climate and is marked by little fluctuations in the temperature all through the year. Most of the rain occurs during the winter season that commences in the month of May and lasts till October. Summer is from November to April. Rainy season is known as “invierno”.
