Flora of Djibouti



Djibouti also known as the Republic of Djibouti is a country in eastern Africa. The landscape feature of Djibouti is rocky in nature. Vegetation in the country mainly consists of shrubs and grasses that are tolerant of drought. Flora of Djibouti consists of areas that are scantily forested.

Flora of Djibouti covers 56 percent of the land area, which is classified into woodlands. In the past, Djibouti flora consisted of closed forest areas but due to agricultural purposes, much of the closed forest area had been cleared.

In the country of Djibouti Africa, there are two leftover areas of closed forests. The flora of Djibouti is distinctive of parched expanse which is more prominent in the low lying areas in the western part of the country. Another characteristic feature that can be mentioned regarding the flora of Djibouti is the salt-loving variety of the plants in the country. These are mainly found in the areas that have an altitude of extensive assortment.

Livistona carinensis is a type, which is included in the flora of Djibouti. It is a particular species of the flowering plant, which belongs to the family Arecaceae. But this flowering plant in the country is at present suffering from the loss of spatial area.
