Rich in magnificent monolithic structures constructed in the baroque style of architecture, the history of the region of Uhersky Brod in the Zlin region of Czech Republic dates back to the 12th century. The town of Uhersky Brod received the royal consent in the year 1267 from the Premysl Otakar II. International fame was brought to the town in the 16th century by the philosopher, social reformer, philologist and teacher Jan Amos Komensky, or Comenius.
The vast luxuriant meadows of the region are dotted with the churches and town halls that are of religious and historical importance to the people of the region. Adorning the region is the Master John Hus Czechoslovak Church Cathedral which is one of the ancient churches that still stands in the region in all its magnificent grandeur. Designed by the Italian architect Domenico Martinelli, the 18th century Virgin Mary Immaculate Conception Church stands in the Masaryk Square.
The square is also adorned by the baroque fountain that is designed by J. A. Winterhalter. The fountain is crowned with the statue of St. Florian. The two high rising steeple of the Virgin Mary Assumpted Church is also popular for its religious and architectural grandeur. The Comenius Museum is one of the primary tourist attractions of Uhersky Brod.
