Kromeriz



Kromeriz is one of the towns of Czech Republic which has preserved its ancient charm and grandeur. The town has been called as the “Athens of the Hana Region”, as it has conserved the cultural heritage and the historic monuments,schools and arts of the ancient period.

Kromeriz town was built on 1,770 hectares, but the present town encompasses an area of 5,560 hectares. The remaining area comprises of the suburban areas and the agricultural villages of Zlamanka, Minuvky, Hradisko, Vazany, Kotojedy, Travnik, Bilany, Tesnovice, Postoupky and Drahlov. In the town and its suburbs, nearly 30,000 people live, where the women population is more than men.

Tourists from far off places come here especially to enjoy the magnificence of its monuments. In 1997, the town of Kromeriz was declared as the most beautiful historic town of the country. The two beautiful gardens of historical importance and the Archbishopric Chateau were included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site, in December 1998. The town hosts a number of music festivals held annually, congresses, workshops, exhibitions and professional conferences. Kromeriz town has many schools including pedagogical schools, comprehensive, schools of arts, vocational etc., which is carrying on the tradition of education in the region.
