Cheb Czech Republic

Cheb is one of the prime cities of Czech Republic, which is located on the banks of Ohre River. Sharing its contours with the border of Germany, Cheb inherits an interesting historical past. Once under the dominion of the Roman kingdom, today Cheb stands as one of the prominent regions of Czech Republic.

The ancient record of Cheb states that the place became a ruling ground of Bohemian Empire in the 13th century. In the year 1322, King Otakar I of Bohemia started his rule in Cheb. This kingdom of Bohemia continued in Cheb for a very long time. During the Bohemian era in Chebl the place suffered the ravages of many devastating wars. The war of Austrian succession from the year 1740 to 1748, the 30 year long war from 1618 to 1648 and the Hussite war from 1419 to 1436 were the prominent events in the battle history of Cheb.

With the creation of the Munich Pact of 1938, Cheb became a division of Germany. However, when the Second World War finished the entire place of Cheb was again handed over to Czech Republic. One of the significant events which took place after Cheb went under the jurisdiction of Czech Republic was that the Sudeten Germans were made to flee from here. This was due to the fact that these local German inhabitants supported the Nazi force in the earlier war phase.

At present Cheb in Czech Republic is known for its splendid castles and other architectural edifices.
