  • The Chinese Sturgeon Aquarium located on Xiaoxita in Yichang County is an institute where Chinese sturgeon is artificially bred. Known as the ‘King of Fish’ Chinese sturgeon are the largest species of sturgeon in the world.
  • Jingzhou was one of the most important centers of power in earlier days. The City is a reminder of life and times in the days gone by. The heritage city has 700 mausoleums and many tombs of the later descendants of the Zhou dynasty.

  • Hubei is also linked to the rest of China through excellent roads. According to official figures in 2000, traffic mileage in Hubei reached 57,800 km, graded roads stretched 48,063 km.   • Railways like the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, the Henan-Hubei, Hubei-Guangxi, the Wuhan-Danjiang Railway, and Hubei-Chongqing Railway operate to and from Hubei.
  • Hubei has a well-developed inland water transportation system. Two major waterways, the Yangtze and Hanjiang river serves the state of Hubei. The Yangtze is a vital inland navigable waterway all year around. The ports of Wuhan, Huangshi, Shashi, and Yichang are also popular points of embarkation, disembarkation, and trade.
