Chilean Film Industry is presently going through rapid developments. The country always had great potential for making some good movies which could draw world wide attention.
The government has taken initiatives for providing financial support to the film industry in Chile. Chile is presently producing more than twelve feature films a year. Most of the matters related to the Film industry in Chile are handled by the Arts and Audiovisual Industry Council. This organization takes care of the over seas financing, production and development of the Chilean Film industry. A target of production of fourteen pictures in a year has been taken by this organization.
Chile has been selected in the second publication of the Cannes Film Festival’s World Cinema section. “Mi Mejor Enemigo”,”Parentesis” and “El Bano” were the three highly acclaimed films. Julio comienza en Julio was chosen as the as the best Chilean film of the century.
There are few Chilean documentary films which have won recognition. Now more and more films are being produced on various issues like social and political. The Chilean audience has also become open to new ideas and hence they have accepted the movies produced for the new generation.
Chilean Films are now being world wide appreciated.
