Fernando Alvares Seco



Fernando Alvares Seco was a significant Portuguese mathematician and cartographer. He was first to make the map of Portugal. This map was published in the year of 1560. The map designed by Fernando Alvares Seco is considered as one of the oldest maps of the country and of the world.

Before designing the map he made an extensive study of the whole territory. He even included different mathematical calculations to produce a perfect map for the nation.

Till now, Fernando Alvares Seco is regarded as one of the most well known cartographers or map makers of Portugal and all over the world.
