Petrus Vesconte was a leading Italian cartographer who created one of the oldest Portolan Charts. This chart was made by him in the year 1311, which consists of rhumb lines, names of places and boundaries. These rhumb lines are the lines of constant bearing. He hailed from the city of Genoa.
