Bulgaria education has witnessed a long process of growth and development. The progress of education in Bulgaria started from after the 19th century with the occurrence of the National Revival movement which emphasized on the establishment of schools in the country.
A basic structure was constructed which was followed by the Bulgaria education that emerged after the country gained its independence. Educational reforms were introduced and gradually the field of education in Bulgaria widened. The number of secondary schools also rose and universities and institutes of higher education were established.
With time, the approach towards Bulgarian education underwent a significant transformation and new characteristics were incorporated in the educational system of Bulgaria. Besides arts, technical training also found a place in the schools and institutes.
Bulgarian educational system consists of state schools, municipal schools and private schools. Today, western education forms an integral aspect of Bulgarian education.
