Roraima is one of the most important states of Brazil. It is located in the northern part of the country. The name of the state of Roraima has been derived from Roro-ima that in the indians pemon language means Green Moutain.

At the border of Venezuela, Brazil and Guyana there lies Monte Roraima, the highest Tepui or Tabletop Mountain in the world. The Table Mountains in this territory are considered to be one among the oldest geological formations of the world. It is also said to be the mountain that inspired Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to write “The Lost World”, the famous novel.
One may trek on this mountain. It has been drawing the attention of many tourists for many years.
The population of Roraima is mainly concentrated in the eastern part of the state. Roraima is the least populated Brazilian State having lowest population density. The historical evidences say it has been a state of indians and as a result the indians affair affects the economy greatly. With the course time Roraima is succumbing to mass tourism.
The major economic product of Roraima is cattle that are raised on the oriental portion of the state. Since the state is isolated from the rest of the country most of the production is directed to the Venezuela and Guyanas markets. On the other hand, agriculture production is being done for internal consumption. The major products are rice, corn, banana, manioc and orange.
