Belize population displays a unique blend of people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. As Belize is a small country, its population is also relatively small. An analysis of the available data of population in Belize in 1980 reveals that more than half of the total population inhabited the cities. The population was concentrated around Belize City. These statistics, however, went for a toss in a short span of time and within a decade the population distribution graph displayed a shift. The population was now more concentrated in the rural belt. Over the years the population of Belize increased. There are six administrative districts in Belize namely Belize, Cayo, Corozal, Orange Walk, Toledo and Stan Creek. The population in the Belize district is more than any other district in Belize while Toledo is the least populated district. A study of the demographics of Belize will demonstrate the ratio of males and females. A major cause for the change in the male female ratio may be attributed to the migration rates. In the years 1940-50 a large chunk of the population that emigrated were males. However, recently there has been a rise in the number of female emigrants. The Belize population comprises of several ethnic groups namely Creole, Mestizos, the Mopan, the Kekchi Maya and the Yucatecan, Garifuna, The East Indians, Euro Americans, Chinese and Arabs.
