After the independence of Armenia in 1991, Armenian airlines was established. The only aircraft carrier was Aeroflot which was flown in Armenia till the year 2002. The International Airways of Armenia and Armavia were the strongest contenders during that time.
The airlines of Armenia fetched a huge profit in 1997 but it began to lose its reputation from the next year. Armavia, possessed by the Airlines of Siberia, came into an agreement with the government of America. In the agreement Armavia was alloted most of the Armenian airlines . Today the Armenian airlines rank as one of the best airlines of the world.

It was also heard that Tupolev aircrafts were used by the Armenia airlines. But later those planes were banned due to environmental restrictions. The Airbus came into operation in 1998 and soon became the European connector for Armenia’s official airline .
Armenian airlines faced a major disturbance when there was a serious engine failure in the year 2002.
The A310 aircraft was the only one which flew daily to Paris. It faced many financial problems but the Armenian airlines provided financial assistance to restart the flights to Europe.
