Zimbabwe TV is a part of
Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) since 2002.
Zimbabwe Television and ZBC are under the control of the Government of Zimbabwe. ZBC is head quartered in Harare.
Zimbabwe Television network reaches approximately one hundred and fifty thousand individuals. The Zimbabwe government is very strict in monitoring all programs telecast over Zimbabwe TV. Individuals not adhering to the guidelines set by the Zimbabwean government when telecasting programs may be removed from office.
In addition to government owned Zimbabwe TV, there were 16 private channels operating as in 1997. During the same time there were six inter net service providers in Zimbabwe. These six inter net service providers used to cater to roughly thirty thousand people.
Joy TV was a premier private television channel network very popular in Zimbabwe. This Joy TV channel was taken off in 2002 as it infringed the monopoly of
Zimbabwe TV. The Channels beamed in Zimbabwe currently include:
