Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has the main function of maintaining and looking after both the internal as well as the external value of the currency of Zimbabwe.
Functions of Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe:
- The regulation of the Zimbabwean monetary structure is its primary function.
- The Bank has to accomplish and sustain the constancy of the Zimbabwe currency, which is the Zimbabwe Dollar.
- The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has to ensure that there is liquidity and right operation of the financial arrangement of the country.
This board is specially organized to carry out many operations of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, like:
- It supervises the administration of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.
- All the formulated policies of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe are held responsible by the board.
- The members of the board includes the Governor, Deputy Governor and at least 5 directors.
- The board determines the rates of interest, Zimbabwean monetary policies.
- They have to be aware of the operational limits of the open market.
- The board also has the function of giving advise to a Minister on matters relating to the Zimbabwean foreign exchange policy.
