Zambia Scouts association is one of the most influential youth association in Zambia and indeed in the whole of southern Africa. Zambia Scouts association is currently involved in major social service work in and around the rural Zambia.
Scouts association of Zambia was established in 1909 with the registration of the first Boy Scout company. It became so popular in by 1924 that a large troupe was sent to Denmark's World Scout Jamboree. The prevalent conditions in the early part of the 20th century, demanded a distinct campaign be established for black Africans titled "Pathfinders"but by the middle of the century the time for the merger of both movements into one Scout Association had come.
Scouts Association in Zambia has now achieved such huge relevance in Zambian youth social structure because the outdoor curriculum inclusive of pioneering, camping, hiking, and cooking, was unique in the dominion. Moreover, the progressive badge and training method was aimed at serving others, resulting in prudent citizenship.
The Zambian Scouts association is now at the center of the HIV/AIDS prevention drive that is sweeping through the whole of southern Africa. The Scouts association is in an unique position to develop awareness and educate about the preventive measures for the deadly diseases because of its close contact with the target community of youths, who are the most vulnerable. Zambia Scouts Association is using this rapport with the youth very efficiently.
